📝🐱🏰Household Policy Update: Annual Leave Has Been Approved

After a long and demanding first week following their holiday, I decided my humans were beginning to show signs of fatigue.

Nothing alarming, obviously. They were still capable of opening doors, preparing meals and responding to basic instructions. But as Head of Household, one learns to recognise when junior management requires a little time away from its duties.

So this morning, I granted them leave to go for a lovely walk together.

I did not join them.

Someone had to remain at the palace, and frankly I had already walked from the bedroom to the sitting room. Leadership is not about exhausting oneself merely because others have bought walking shoes.

While they were away, I took the opportunity to recover from a particularly demanding week myself.

Miss Moo Moo Longtail has required extensive training recently. She had once again reached the stage where emergency repairs were necessary, and after a lengthy and rather physical training session, she has now been restored with stitches.

I am pleased to report that she is operational again.

For now.

Miss Moo Moo Longtail has a regrettable tendency to interpret being repaired as the beginning of a fresh durability assessment. I admire her commitment to professional development, although I do question her long-term career prospects.

When my humans returned from their walk, naturally they were not immediately off duty.

The palace needed cleaning.

I find humans sometimes misunderstand the concept of annual leave. It does not mean one may simply abandon essential services and wander about the countryside looking at trees. There are standards.

Once the palace had passed inspection, we received visitors in the afternoon. I supervised proceedings from an appropriate position, ensuring conversation remained civilised, refreshments were handled correctly and nobody accidentally occupied any furniture I might suddenly require.

One must remain vigilant.

And now, after careful consideration, I have decided to give my humans the rest of the day off.

Completely free.

No major household duties.

No compulsory training sessions.

No performance reviews.

Unless something comes up.

Tomorrow, after all, another long working week begins. My humans must return to their daytime jobs, which I continue to permit because apparently the palace has expenses.

I have never been shown the accounts.

This is probably wise.

So this evening they may sit down, relax and enjoy the final hours of their weekend.

I shall be nearby, doing absolutely nothing.

Which, at senior management level, is called delegation.

Yours, Mrs. Cotton 🐱🐾
