Miss Moo Moo Longtail has once again been under the knife.

Plastic surgery, no less.

Fortunately, my humans performed the operation rather well. I supervised from a suitable distance, naturally. A ruler must allow her staff to develop confidence, even when they are repairing important members of the royal household.

Miss Moo Moo Longtail is recovering nicely, although I shall continue to inspect the stitching. Quality control is one of my many duties.

There has also been promising progress regarding the temperature of my residence. It now appears that air conditioning may actually be installed. My humans have listened to me, which was inevitable. It simply took them a little while to realise that my thoughtful observations were not casual suggestions but official royal instructions.

I have now been here for five months. Five months already. Time passes remarkably quickly when one is reorganising an entire household.

So far, so good.

The place is beginning to run according to my standards. Every morning at approximately 6.30, I wake my humans for breakfast. They do not always respond immediately, but after a period of firm encouragement, one of them eventually comes downstairs.

Progress cannot be rushed.

Today, I overheard them discussing the possibility of leaving the doors open permanently. This would, of course, be a considerable improvement. A queen should not have to wait for doors to be opened inside her own palace. Free access between rooms is not a luxury. It is basic feline infrastructure.

My humans may believe these changes are their own ideas. I see no reason to correct them. Good leadership often means allowing one’s staff to feel involved.

And so, after five months of patient training, carefully timed morning instructions and the occasional firm stare, my household is slowly becoming fit for royal occupation.

Patience is indeed a virtue.

Although ruling with a steel paw certainly helps.
