The weekend is nearly upon us, which means my humans will once again be at home for a full twenty-four hours a day.

Naturally, they consider this relaxing.

For me, however, it means increased supervision, additional household management and considerably more foot traffic through my kingdom. There will be doors opened at inconvenient moments, cushions occupied without permission and repeated attempts to involve me in activities I have neither approved nor scheduled.

I shall also be expected to monitor snacks, inspect cups of tea and remind everyone that the best seat in the house is already reserved.

It is demanding work.

Of course, I do enjoy having my staff nearby. Their presence can be comforting, particularly when they remain quiet, provide refreshments and understand that a sleeping cat must never be disturbed for something as trivial as vacuuming.

Still, I would be dishonest if I said I was not already looking forward to Monday.

By then, normal office hours will resume, the household will become peaceful again and I can finally recover from the weekend.

But it is what it is.

A queen must make sacrifices for her household.

Yours, Mrs. Cotton 🐱🐾
