A Word on the Weather Situation
For Dutch standards, it has been rather intense on the temperature front.
My humans, clearly overwhelmed by the tropical conditions, decided to take me upstairs to the bedroom. This, I must point out, is highly irregular. Under normal circumstances, I, Mrs. Cotton, rule the household from the living room during sleeping hours. That is simply how the night shift is organised.
However, I must admit the temporary relocation had its advantages. All the upstairs windows were open, properly fitted with insect screens, which meant I could sit there and observe the outside world all night like the elegant little supervisor I am. The fan was also quite agreeable. I positioned myself in front of it with great dignity, while the humans attempted something they call “sleeping”.
That said, I have formally pressed for the purchase of an air-conditioning unit.
My humans are, unfortunately, rather principled about such matters. But they must come to understand that even a mammoth tanker can sometimes be turned around — especially when there is a determined white cat on board.
For now, I shall continue to monitor the situation closely.
I’ll keep you posted.
Yours, Mrs. Cotton 🐱🐾
